UA Offers Wellness Promotion, Free Flu Shots to Students at Health Fair

TUSCALOOSA, Ala.  – The University of Alabama Student Health Center’s department of health promotion and wellness will host the annual fall student health fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, on the Ferguson Center plaza.

The fair is designed to foster a culture of wellness by increasing students’ knowledge of health and wellness opportunities on campus.

Free flu shots from the UA Student Health Center will be available to all students. The event will include a number of giveaways, including T-shirts for the first 200 visitors.

“The best time to get a flu shot is now,” said David Brown, registered nurse at the UA Student Health Center. “Flu season has begun, and everyone needs to be vaccinated because it does take a couple of weeks to become effective.”

The Student Health Center’s department of health promotion and awareness collaborates with UA students, faculty and staff to promote a healthy campus environment, enhance student well-being and foster student empowerment to achieve optional health and academic success.
