ExxonMobil Foundation Presents UA With Matching Donations Check

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The ExxonMobil  Foundation recently gave more than $52,000 to The University of Alabama.

The gift represents the foundation’s  3-to-1 match of money donated by ExxonMobil employees, retirees and surviving spouses through the company’s Educational Matching Gift Program.

Since 2008, the foundation has given more than $250,000 to UA in support of students and educational programs.

Representatives from the foundation visited UA in May to present the check.

Founded in 1955 as Esso Education Foundation, the foundation’s name was changed to ExxonMobil Foundation in 2000 following the merger of Exxon Corp. and Mobil Corp. The foundation has a strategically focused vision supporting math and science education, economic opportunities for women and malaria prevention.

In 2012, together with its employees and retirees, Exxon Mobil Corp., its divisions and affiliates and ExxonMobil Foundation provided $256 million in contributions worldwide, of which $116 million was dedicated to education.
