TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama presents a pair of town hall meetings designed to separate fact from fiction when it comes to the federal government.
The first town hall meeting touches on an incredibly polarizing issue — the Affordable Care Act: Separating Fact from Fiction. The meeting is at 7 p.m. in room 214 of Farrah Hall, on Tuesday, April 1. Dr. Richard H. Streiffer, dean of the College of Community Health Sciences, Dr. R. Allen Perkins, the president of the Alabama Association of Family Physicians, and Bryan Kindred, the CEO of DCH Health Systems, will lead the discussion on what the Affordable Care Act — commonly known as “Obamacare”— really means for the public.
The second town hall meeting, Polarized Politics: How to Restore Trust in Government, is at 6:30 p.m. in room 214 of Farrah Hall, on Monday, April 7, with former U.S. Representative Jo Bonner, Dr. George Hawley, UA assistant professor of political science, and Dr. Alan Abramowitz, of Emory University, and author of “The Disappearing Center.”
Admission for each event is free, and the event is open to the public.
The April 1 event is sponsored by UA’s Honors College and the College of Community Health Sciences. The April 7 event is sponsored by the Honors College.
