Montgomery Student Elected UA SGA President

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Hamilton Bloom, a junior from Montgomery majoring in history and political science, was elected president of The University of Alabama Student Government Association for the 2014-2015 term.

Some 10,276 votes were cast in the election that was held through online voting Tuesday, March 11. Bloom received 6,378 votes to defeat challenger Justin Thompson, a junior from Frankfort, Ky., majoring in public relations.

Other executive officers included:

Executive vice president: Christopher Willis of Forest, Va.

Vice president for academic affairs: Laura Gregory of Nashville, Tenn.

Vice president for external affairs: Drew Bridges of Andover, Kan.

Vice president for financial affairs: Andrew Gross, of Park City, Utah.

Vice president for student affairs: Stephen Keller of Baton Rouge, La.

Executive secretary: Polly Ricketts of Birmingham.
