Students Compete in Miss UA Pageant

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A new Miss University of Alabama will be selected at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Bama Theatre in downtown Tuscaloosa.

Marking 40 years as a preliminary competition for the Miss Alabama and Miss America titles, the 2014 Miss UA pageant will feature 17 students vying for the crown in the categories of private interview, swimsuit-physical fitness, talent, evening wear and on-stage question. The winner will receive a full-tuition scholarship and book scholarships for her year of service, and she will also represent UA at the 2014 Miss Alabama Pageant in Birmingham in June.

Special guest performers at the event will be Chandler Champion, UA student and 2013 Miss Alabama, and Jessica Proctor, 2013 Miss Alabama’s Outstanding Teen. The event will also welcome former Miss UA titleholders and their families.

The Miss University of Alabama Program is an official preliminary competition for the Miss Alabama and Miss America Organizations and is sponsored by the UA National Alumni Association.  Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for students and senior citizens and $5 for children younger than 10. Tickets may be purchased at the Bama Theatre box office starting at 5 p.m. on the night of the competition
