UA Honors College Hosts Afternoon of Service in Perry County

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — As part of its 57 Miles program, The University of Alabama Honors College will be working in partnership with Perry County to host its fall Afternoon of Service from 1:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 12, in Marion.

The Afternoon of Service, which will be held in cooperation with the UA Honors Year One program, will feature some 60 UA students, including Honors College interns and volunteer student leaders. They will perform a variety projects in Marion, including pressure washing and scrubbing sidewalks around the historic downtown courthouse square, cleaning windows on the UA storefront and other downtown businesses and painting and landscaping at Francis Marion High School. The day will conclude with a cookout.

The Perry County partnership program, titled 57 Miles, connects students and community members.
