Scientific Society Selects UA Chemistry Professor as ACS Fellow

The American Chemical Society will induct Dr. David Dixon, a University of Alabama chemistry professor, into its 2013 class of ACS Fellows, the society announced.

The Capstone College of Nursing received a $997,173 grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to implement a collaborative, team-based approach to working with patients who have multiple chronic conditions.

Astronomer Donates Fossil Footprints to UA Museum

Dr. Ron Buta, University of Alabama professor of astronomy and physics, has spent the past two years collecting slabs of fossil trackways from a surface coal mine in Carbon Hill. He recently donated his collection, which includes more than 1,200 slabs of fossil footprints, to UA Museum Collections.

UA Librarian Wins Photo Contest, 3-D Model to Make Cover

Dr. Vincent F. Scalfani, a University of Alabama faculty member, has combined his passions for chemistry, libraries, teaching, 3-D printing and photography to create a black-and-white photo that won an international journal-cover photograph contest.

UA Computer Science Professor Named Fellow by CSAB

Dr. Allen S. Parrish, computer science professor and director of the Center for Advanced Public Safety at The University of Alabama, was recognized as a Fellow of CSAB, the lead society for accreditation of degree programs in computer science, information systems, software engineering and information technology.
