The long, lazy days of summer are finally here, and while it’s the perfect time to have some fun in the sun, one University of Alabama professor stressed the importance of being smart while enjoying those golden rays.

The Federal Highway Administration recently awarded an Eisenhower Grant for Research Fellowship to Owen Killeen, a University of Alabama senior in civil engineering, as part of the Dwight David Eisenhower Transportation Fellowship Program.

A select group of high-school students who are living in foster care, have been emancipated recently or are wards of the state will have the opportunity to participate in a pre-collegiate summer program at The University of Alabama through the nsoro Foundation of Atlanta.
