UA Culverhouse Professors Named Leading Editors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Drs. Alexander Ellinger and Glenn Richey, professors at The University of Alabama, have received the 2013 Leading Editor(s) Award acknowledging the high commitment they have shown to the journal they edit and recognizing their efforts to raise and maintain the journal’s global reputation and standing.

Ellinger and Richey, both professors of marketing and supply chain management at UA’s Culverhouse College of Commerce, are co-editors of the International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, a publication of the Emerald Literati Network.

Emerald is a global publisher managing a portfolio of more than 290 journals and 2,000 book titles linking research and practice to benefit society.

In making the award, the network said Ellinger and Richey “consistently exceeded Emerald’s Editor expectations since taking on the editorship of the SSCI ranked IJPDLM in 2010. Alex and Glenn have worked tirelessly over the past three years to source and invite world leading research to IJDPLM and have always re-acted enthusiastically to new marketing campaigns and ideas, such as their ‘year in review’ Editor videos on the IJPDLM homepage.

“Alex and Glenn have also taken a noble and service orientated stance towards IJDPLM’s author centric publishing philosophy, with initiatives such as ensuring that papers submitted to IJDPLM receive reviewer reports from colleagues based on different continents to the lead author. Alex and Glenn’s publishing philosophy is encapsulated in their editorial of IJPDLM 42.10, which focus on the key tenets of – fairness, inclusiveness, innovativeness and timeliness.

“Finally, Alex and Glenn have consistently drawn on their own peer networks to promote and generate interest not only in the journal which they edit, but also related titles in Emerald’s portfolio, entirely of their own behest. They set a very high standard indeed for every editor.”

The Emerald Literati Network has more than 40,000 members. Emerald is the leading international publisher of business, management and LIS journals.
