Jazz Artist Frank ‘Doc’ Adams to Appear at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Creative Campus invites the community to an afternoon with legendary jazz artist Frank “Doc” Adams from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at the Ferguson Center.

Adams will be on campus for an open, informal and interactive community conversation that will showcase his character and personality.

This event, held in partnership with UA’s Crossroads Community Center, Honors College Assembly and New College, is part of African-American History Month, an annual cultural and historical celebration held on campus each year and organized by Crossroads.

UA recently named Adams, a Birmingham native and original Jazz Hall of Fame member, an Alabama Living Legend as a result of his career as a jazz musician and educator. His autobiography, “Doc,” was published by The University of Alabama Press.

Located within UA’s Office of Academic Affairs, Creative Campus is a collaborative system connecting students, faculty, and community to nurture innovative thinkers who turn ideas into action. Creative Campus strives to collaborate and establish partnerships across campus and in the Tuscaloosa community; in doing so, the organization serves as a voice for the cultural arts.
