TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — ESPN sportscaster and University of Alabama alumnus Rece Davis will speak at a lecture for The University of Alabama Program in Sports Communication Jan. 31.
“We are thrilled to continue the momentum of the APSC’s guest-lecturer series that started in October with former ESPN President George Bodenheimer,” said Dr. Andrew Billings, director of the UA program and the Ronald Reagan Endowed Chair of Broadcasting in the College of Communication and Information Sciences’ telecommunication and film department.
“Rece Davis is not only a distinguished alumnus of The University of Alabama but a well-respected figure in the sports-broadcast community.”
Davis graduated from UA in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast news and public affairs. He is a member of the Board of Visitors for UA’s College of Communication and Information Sciences.
The free event is open to the public and will begin at 11 a.m. in the Ferguson Center Theater. Seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Davis will give a short speech and then have a question-and-answer time.
The University of Alabama Program in Sports Communication, housed in the College of Communication and Information Sciences, serves as an umbrella for sport communication-related research, teaching and activities taking place on The University of Alabama campus, with a number of faculty fellows providing mentorship for students participating in such research.
