UA Institute Accepting Nominations for Rural Health Heroes Award

The University of Alabama Institute for Rural Health Research is seeking nominations for its 2013 Rural Health Heroes Awards. The awards will honor rural health care providers and others who assist in reducing or preventing obesity and promoting wellness.

Dr. Xiangrong Shen, assistant professor of mechanical engineering at The University of Alabama, hopes to develop an alternative below-knee prosthesis capable of actively powering the ankle joint for amputees.
