UA Hosting Campus Events for Veterans Week

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Office of Veteran and Military Affairs is hosting a series of events across campus Nov. 7-16 in recognition of Veterans Week.

The events include:

Wednesday, Nov. 7 – Book launch, “All of Us Fought the War: The University of Alabama and its Men and Women in World War II,” 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Bryant Conference Center, Sellers Auditorium.

Saturday, Nov. 10 – Alabama vs. Texas A&M pre-game tailgate on the Quad with veterans, dependents and service members from UA and Texas A&M.

Monday, Nov. 12 – Veterans Week kickoff event on the Quad, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.; Campus Veterans Association meeting and commencement of the Battle of Branches student military competition, featuring guest speaker Delbert Reed and a quiz bowl, Ferguson Center East dining room, 5:30-7 p.m.

Tuesday, Nov. 13 – Battle of the Branches video game tournament, 1 B.B. Comer, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.; luncheon honoring all faculty and staff veterans on campus, University Club, noon-1 p.m.; Battle of the Branches, Spoken Word: “What do I Stand For?” Ferguson Center Anderson Room, 5:30-6:30 p.m.

Wednesday, Nov. 14 – Faculty & Staff Lunch and Learn; Battle of the Branches community service project with local VA.

Thursday, Nov. 15 – Faculty & Staff Lunch and Learn; Battle of the Branches: Intramurals, Presidents Field, 4-8 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 16 – Veteran and Military Affairs grand opening, 1 B.B. Comer, 2-4 p.m.

The Center for Veteran and Military Affairs, located on The University of Alabama campus, is dedicated to serving students who are veterans, current service members, dependents of veterans and survivors of veterans.
