Five Seniors Chosen for UA Homecoming Court

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 2012 University of Alabama Homecoming Court was selected in a student election held Tuesday, Oct. 23.

The following students, all seniors, were selected as members of the 2012 UA Homecoming Court:

Alex Clark of Kingsport, Tenn., a public relations major sponsored by the UA Honors College/Honors College Assembly.

Kenyanita C. Ellis of Moundville, a biology major sponsored by the National Pan-Hellenic Council.

Darby N. Hess of Acworth, Ga., a communication studies and Spanish major sponsored by Kappa Alpha Theta.

Lissa Handley Tyson of Birmingham, an accounting and finance major sponsored by Alpha Gamma Delta.

Lauren Whitten of Gadsden, an accounting major sponsored by Gamma Phi Beta.

The 2012 UA Homecoming Queen will be announced Friday, Oct. 26, during a pep rally on the Quad beginning at 7 p.m.

Some 8,962 votes were cast in this year’s election; voting was done online through student myBama accounts.

The queen will be crowned at halftime of the homecoming football game between UA and Mississippi State, Saturday, Oct. 27, in Bryant-Denny Stadium; kickoff time is 7:30 p.m.

Also on Saturday, Oct. 27, the UA Homecoming Parade will be held at 2 p.m., starting in downtown Tuscaloosa and going to the UA campus.
