TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Students in The University of Alabama theater honor society Alpha Psi Omega are taking a new twist on the singing telegram this Valentine’s Day.
The APO students are selling Valentine-O-Grams — poetry recited by an actor or actress for the buyer’s significant other during the week of Valentine’s Day for $10 — as part of their philanthropy fund raising.
“The client can request almost any actor/actress, costume or public place on campus they prefer,” says Motell Foster, APO member who is one of the organizers of the Valentine-O-Grams event.
Valentine-O-Grams can be delivered on campus from Feb.6-20. To order, contact Patrick Croce at pmcroce@crimson.ua.edu.
APO is also sponsoring “A Night to Charity,” a concert by Charity Vance, Indie pop singer- songwriter from Nashville, Tenn., on Saturday, Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. in the Allen Bales Theatre on campus. Half Priced Hearts will be the opening act and tickets are $5.
For more information on APO, contact Motell Foster, 256/592-7537, mgfoster1@crimson.ua.edu. Proceeds from both events will benefit West Alabama AIDS Outreach.
