UA’s Glaze Elected President of IREM’s Alabama Chapter

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Grayson Glaze, executive director of the Alabama Center for Real Estate at The University of Alabama, was recently elected as the 2012 president of the Alabama chapter of the Institute of Real Estate Management.

The Institute of Real Estate Management, or IREM, is an international community of real estate managers, across all property types, dedicated to ethical business practices and maximizing the value of investment real estate. IREM is an affiliate of the National Association of Realtors.

Glaze also recently served the organization nationally as the chair of the Student and Academic Outreach Advisory Board.

The Alabama Center for Real Estate is housed within the Culverhouse College of Commerce at UA. Glaze also is an adjunct professor at UA where he teaches principles in real estate management.

Before joining ACRE as executive director in 2007, Glaze was employed with Carter Real Estate as general manager of SouthBridge in Birmingham, where he led an office building management and leasing team that was recognized as Carter’s corporate wide “Class A Office Building of the Year” for four consecutive years (03-06).

Glaze was also recognized in 2006 as a Lifetime Member-Birmingham Commercial Million Dollar Sales Club. In 2008, he earned the CPM, or Certified Property Manager, professional designation from the Institute of Real Estate Management and the CCIM, or Certified Commercial Investment Member, professional designation from the CCIM Institute. In 2005, Glaze was recognized as a member of  the “Top 40 under 40″ business leadership class by the Birmingham Business Journal.

Glaze holds a bachelor’s degree in finance, with a concentration in real estate, from The University of Alabama and a law degree from the Birmingham School of Law.

IREM is the only professional real estate management association serving both the multi-family and commercial real estate sectors, and it has 80 U.S. chapters, 13 international chapters and several other partnerships around the globe. Worldwide membership includes nearly 18,000 individual members and more than 535 corporate members.
