Student Affairs Expo Showcases Campus Activities at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Student Affairs Expo on Tuesday, Jan. 31, from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. in the Ferguson Center, second floor, will feature information about how students can get involved on campus by participating in events, volunteering, getting a campus job and more.

The goal of the UA Division of Student Affairs is to maximize student learning through out-of-classroom experiences. At the Expo, students will have a chance to learn about more than 20 departments in the division, including University Recreation, the Ferguson Center Student Union, Housing and Residential Communities and others. Students who attend the Expo can complete a passport by visiting at least 10 departments to be eligible for prizes including a $500 scholarship.

“The Division of Student Affairs offers a variety of programs and resources designed to enhance students’ leadership, civic responsibility, health and wellness. When students get involved with our initiatives, they are more likely to be successful at UA,” said Dr. Mark Nelson, vice provost and vice president for student affairs.

Registration is not required for the event, but students should check in at the Student Affairs table near the Ferguson Center information desk to receive their passports anytime from11 a.m.-1 p.m.

The Division of Student Affairs is currently promoting the “Connect with Student Affairs” campaign to encourage students, faculty, staff and alumni to get involved with the division’s many departments. The division has launched new Facebook and Twitter pages to connect with students online at http://www.facebook.com/BamaStudentLife and @BamaStudentLife.
