Earth Hour on the UA Quad Promotes Environmental Awareness

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Student Government Association Department of Environmental Concerns is sponsoring Earth Hour, Saturday, March 27, from 8-9 p.m. on the Quad.

The goal of the event is to raise awareness about the importance of environmental stewardship and energy conservation on the UA campus.

Earth Hour events are being hosted in cities around the world (see www.earthhour.org) to promote environmental issues.

Students and participants are encouraged to turn off their lights and electronics for an hour and to visit the Quad for entertainment. As part of the program, the lights in Denny Chimes will be turned off for the hour-long event.

Activities will include glow in the dark painting, glow in the dark Frisbee and music by a local band, Sparrow and the Ghost.
