UA to Host Graduate School Preview Day, McNair Scholars Visitation Day

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Graduate School will host Graduate School Preview Day on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 3 p.m. in the Ferguson Center on campus.

McNair Scholars interested in pursuing graduate education are invited to attend the McNair Scholars Visitation Day at UA, held in conjunction with Graduate School Preview Day on Sept. 17. The event is free to all McNair Scholars and special activities for McNair guests will be held prior to the start of the Preview Day events, starting at 10 a.m. in the Ferguson Center on campus, and continuing throughout the day.

At the Preview Day, representatives from the various programs offered at UA will be present to answer questions about graduate study in their colleges. Students will also have the opportunity to attend a seminar on general test-taking strategies and to take a free Kaplan practice test for the GRE, GMAT or LSAT.

The schedule for the 2009 Graduate School Preview Day includes:

3-4 p.m. – Opening Session, Ferguson Center Theater on “The Benefits of Investing in a Graduate Education” – presented by UA faculty, staff and graduate students.

4:15-5 p.m. – Small Group Information Sessions, Ferguson Center — assistant and associate deans, graduate program directors and other college representatives talk about graduate studies in various colleges, including:

Graduate School of Business – Ferguson Theater

5-5:30 p.m. – Reception, Ferguson Heritage Room

5:30-6:30 p.m. – Seminar on General Testing Strategies, Ferguson Theater, “Preparing for the GRE, GMAT, MAT and other Tests.”

5:30-8:30 p.m. – Kaplan Practice Tests, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, Ferguson Ballroom.

Those who wish to attend the Graduate School Preview Day and are planning on taking the free Kaplan practice test for the GRE, GMAT or LSAT are asked to please pre-register by Sept. 14 by going to http://graduate.ua.edu/events/previewday.html.
