ANNOUNCEMENTS

The Student Government Association will host an open-floor discussion about changes that have been implemented for the football season on Sept. 9 from 6-9 p.m. in 108 Graves Hall. Topics include Action Card scanners, where to enter the stadium and what kind of lines to expect. Representatives from the SGA and Intercollegiate Athletics will be present to answer questions. Get in the Game information is available. The Crimson Tide will play its home opener Saturday, Sept. 12, against Florida International at 6 p.m. in Bryant-Denny Stadium. Whether you currently have tickets or need tickets to the game, you will want to know how to “Get in the Game” and how the changes to the way student tickets are handled, how to enter the stadium (Gate 29 only) and how parking near the stadium affects you. Students who have split football-ticket packages can find out information about their packages at My Football Ticket. Go to http://actcard.ua.edu/, click on the My Tickets link, click on the My Football Ticket Tab and log in. Each Sunday before a home football game, My Football Ticket is refreshed with the current week’s information. You can confirm you are holding a ticket or join the list of students who would like to receive a donated ticket. Also remember, a specific student can transfer a ticket privilege to you also on this site.

The Student Government Association announces the launch of 348-Ride Express. The 348-Ride Express is a shuttle bus that will continuously loop the campus on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights from 9 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. The estimated maximum wait time is 8–10 minutes. EVENTS, ARTS AND ENTERTAINMENT

A display of 150 American flags honoring American heroes will continue to line the sidewalk from Denny Chimes to Gorgas Library Sept. 7-11, thanks to the efforts of a group of students. A ceremony will be held at 6 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10, on the steps of Gorgas Library. Speakers will include UA President Robert Witt, Tuscaloosa Fire Chief Alan Martin and others. Taking Back Sunday will perform on Sept. 18 for the fall concert presented by the Division of Student Affairs and the University Union. The concert begins at 8 p.m. at Coleman Coliseum. Doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale exclusively at http://crimsonartstickets.com. Student tickets are $15. Floor seats and general admission tickets are $30. Free parking for the concert will be available at the UA Soccer Complex with shuttles provided by Crimson Ride. More information: Maeci Martin at 348-7487.

STUDENT AFFAIRS

Rush for Alpha Delta Chi, the Christian sorority at UA, starts Sept. 8 at 8 p.m. in the Calvary Baptist Church Chapel. More information: Lindsay Perrine or join the Facebook group “Rush Alpha Delta Chi.”

New Discovery Series classes are now open for registration for the fall semester. The Discovery Series is a program offering non-credit classes to UA students, faculty and staff and to the Tuscaloosa community. More information and a list of classes: http://ferguson.ua.edu.

The Ad Team will host an informational meeting on Sept. 10 at 6 p.m. in 226 Reese Phifer. Hear about last year’s campaign team that placed second in the nation and learn how you can join this year’s Ad Team. Applications will be available beginning Sept. 10 at www.cis.ua.edu/adteam.

Phi Sigma Pi Game Night will be Sept. 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the Ferguson Student Center Game Room. Everyone is welcome to attend. Food will be provided, and the band No Means Yes will perform. More information: Katelyn Clark.

Premedical mentors being recruited for yearlong service opportunity. The UA premedical staff, along with Alpha Epsilon Delta, UA’s premedical honor society, is recruiting qualified upperclassmen to serve as premedical mentors to freshman. Mentors will interact once a month in small groups with mentees and one other mentor, working to provide relevant information and advice to incoming students who hope to enter the medical profession. Sustained Dialogue is accepting participant applications for the 2009–10 academic year. Sustained Dialogue, an organization that brings together students from different backgrounds, is an initiative of the Crossroads Community Center. Students who need a ride to the Birmingham airport during University break periods can make reservations at the Housing and Residential Communities office in Mary Burke Hall. Reservations must be made in person. The schedule of departure and pickup times can be found on the HRC Web site by clicking on Airport Shuttle under On-Campus Housing.
