Lewis and Faye Manderson give University of Alabama $9 million bringing total gifts to more than $12 million

A Cordova native and his wife have given the University of Alabama business school $9 million. That brings Lewis and Faye Manderson’s total gifts to the school to more than $12 million, the third-largest donation by an individual or couple in the university’s history, UA officials said. The Mandersons made the $9 million gift a year ago anonymously, Pam Parker, UA’s vice president of advancements, said Monday. They agreed last week to make their donation public after the UA Board of Trustees approved renaming a north entrance section of the campus the Park at Manderson Landing in honor of their financial contributions. Lewis and Faye Manderson are making an extraordinary investment in the lives of our students and the future of our university,” UA President Robert E. Witt said in a prepared statement…The gifts will support UA’s Manderson Graduate School of Business, named in honor of Manderson in 1987 when he gave the $1 million donation that J. Barry Mason, dean of the UA Business School, says was the catalyst for changes that took the school to a higher level nationally. In size, the Mandersons’ cumulative gift trails only $18.1 million in donations by the Hugh Culverhouse family, known for the UA College of Commerce and Business Administration, and $13.2 million from an anonymous donor, said Chris Bryant, a UA spokesman…
