TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Library Lecture Series is hosting best-selling author and UA journalism professor Rick Bragg who will read from and discuss his latest book “The Prince of Frogtown” on Wednesday, Oct. 29 at 7 p.m. in 205 Gorgas Library.
Bragg’s book is the final volume of his American saga that began with the national hit “All over but the Shoutin’” and continued with “Ava’s Man.” In “Frogtown” (Knopf, 2008), Bragg closes his circle of family stories with a tale of fathers and sons inspired by his own relationship with his 10-year-old stepson.
Bragg, a 1996 Pulitzer Prize winner for his feature writing at The New York Times, has received more than 50 writing award during his 20 year career as a journalist. Bragg was the recipient of the American Society of Newspaper Editors Distinguished Writing Award twice, as well as the recipient of a Nieman Fellowship from Harvard University.
Bragg has published six books, including “I am a Soldier Too: The Jessica Lynch Story.” He currently serves as a professor of journalism at UA where he continues his writing.
The event is free and open to the public and will feature a reception and signing following Bragg’s reading. The University Libraries Lecture Series is made possible in part through the generous support of Lakey and Susan Tolbert.
