UA SIFE Team Named Regional Champion for Second Consecutive Year; Advances to Chicago

After presenting a report of its year-long community outreach projects to a panel of 16 business leaders, the Students in Free Enterprise team at The University of Alabama was named a SIFE USA Regional champion.

Kilgore Establishes Endowed Scholarship at UA College of Engineering

Tom Kilgore has recently established the Myra Blevins Kilgore Endowed Scholarship to promote the education of students in The University of Alabama College of Engineering. Kilgore established the scholarship in honor of his wife, Myra, as a surprise holiday gift.

UA French Scholar Awarded Knighthood in France’s Ordre des Palmes Académiques

Dr. Metka Zupancic, associate professor of French/modern languages at The University of Alabama, has been inducted as a knight, or chevalier, in France’s Ordre des Palmes Académiques (Order of Academic Palms).

UA’s Students in Free Enterprise Team, Cintas to Clothe Kids in Impoverished Third World Countries

More than 1,700 articles of clothing have been collected during the past year for distribution to impoverished children in Third World countries, thanks to the combined efforts of The University of Alabama’s Students in Free Enterprise and Cintas Corp.

UA’s Marino Asked to Join Premier Entrepreneurship Research Conference Review Board

Dr. Louis Marino, associate professor of entrepreneurship and strategic management, has been invited to join the Babson College Entrepreneurship Research Conference Review Board. The conference is considered by many to be the premier entrepreneurship research conference in the world.
