EVENTS, ARTS & CULTURE

HES students will auction T-shirt designs. Students in the College of Human Environmental Sciences department of clothing, textiles and interior design will host Tee-Time, their annual silent auction fundraiser, Tuesday, April 8, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in a tent on the front lawn of Doster Hall.

“Healing the Wounded Heart” art exhibit will be April 8-30 in the Ferguson Center. The Women’s Resource Center invites all members of the community to experience visual testimonies of the impact of violence in the lives of survivors. A reception will coincide with the exhibit opening on April 8 at 6 p.m. in the Ferguson Center. More information: Women’s Resource Center at 348-5040.

Sundown Cinema Sundays. University Programs will host movies and free food on the Quad at sundown every Sunday in April. “Juno” will be shown April 13. More information: Rachel E. Kelly at 348-7525.

Ring ceremony will feature former Tide player. Students with 60 or more credit hours who have purchased an official class ring may attend the annual Official Ring Ceremony and reception Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. in the Heritage Ballroom of Ferguson Center. Former UA football player Bobby Humphrey will be the speaker. The event is hosted by the University Supply Store and Balfour, Inc.

The Criminal Justice Career Fair will be hosted by the department of criminal justice April 10 from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. on the third floor of Ferguson Center. The fair is open to the public and will feature various local and federal law enforcement agencies. More information: Tom Allen at 534-7685.

Relay for Life at UA will be April 11 from 6 p.m.–6 a.m. on the Quad. More information: cac.bama@gmail.com.

“Take Back the Night” will be April 22 at 6 p.m. in front of Denny Chimes. Speak out against sexual assault at this internationally recognized rally/march and enjoy music, poetry, speakers and empowerment. More information: Stacy Panitch at 348-5040.

STUDENT AFFAIRS

Interested in making off-campus living safer? Become a student captain for your neighborhood as part of the CrimsonWatch program brought to you by SGA and UAPD. As a captain, you will serve as a liaison between your area and UAPD initiating programs to make students safer off-campus. Join the Association of Child Life for its monthly meeting April 9 at 6 p.m. at the Child Development Resource Center. Majoring in child life? Want to know more about child life? SOLOs Wilderness First Responder Course (WFR) will be held May 12-20 at UA Outdoor Recreation. This course is the recognized industry standard for those who work as back-country trip leaders, camp counselors, mountain guides, river guides, and ski patrollers. ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Honors Week is April 14-18. The University will recognize the scholarship and leadership of students and faculty with 2008 Honors Week activities. The Tapping on the Mound ceremony will be Friday, April 18, at 2 p.m. on the Mound at the west side of the UA Quad.

Apply for an SGA book scholarship. Applications are now available for book scholarships for the fall semester. Nine $400 scholarships will be awarded. Applications can be picked up in the SGA Office, 356 Ferguson, and are due back in the SGA office by 4:45 p.m. on April 18. More information: Sarah Simpler.
