TUSCALOOSA, Ala.– The Crossroads Community Center will host the musical group The Vulgar Bulgars as part of their Community Conversation series Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. in 232 Ferguson Center.

The Vulgar Bulgars are a band that plays Klezmer music, a lively form of Jewish music derived from Eastern European folk and religious music. It was an important influence on the development of jazz as well as on classical composers such as Aaron Copland, George Gershwin and Leonard Bernstein.

In addition to the concert, the band will discuss Jewish issues. The Vulgar Bulgars recently performed at the Tuscaloosa Jewish Cultural Festival.

The Community Conversation series brings speakers and performers from diverse backgrounds together for a better understanding of different cultures.
