President, CEO of Infinity Security Solutions to Speak with UA Students

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Woodrow “Woody” Cannon, chief executive officer and president of Infinity Security Solutions, will speak with students at The University of Alabama Monday, Nov. 19.

Cannon’s presentation is part of the College of Engineering’s Dean’s Leadership Series, which brings prominent business leaders to speak with students at UA. Cannon’s lecture begins at 3 p.m. in Shelby Hall, room 150. It is open to the public.

Before co-founding Infinity Security Solutions, a security equipment provider that uses cutting-edge technology to protect the assets of company networks, Cannon served as president and CEO of Mariposa Technology where he led the effort to sell the company for $268 million. He also served as president and CEO of Kestrel Solutions, an optical technology company.

Cannon began his career with IBM serving in a broad variety of sales positions, including marketing and technical support. He later worked with the development of breakthrough technology in the next-generation of the Internet, and he co-authored two patents in the field.

Cannon received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the Capstone.

Infinity Security Solutions was founded in 2007 as a small start-up Gig-E security equipment provider, headquartered in San Ramon, Calif.

In 1837, The University of Alabama became one of the first five universities in the nation to offer engineering classes. Today, UA’s fully accredited College of Engineering has about 1,900 students and nearly 100 faculty. In the last seven years, students in the College have been named USA Today All-USA College Academic Team members, Goldwater scholars, Hollings scholars and Portz scholars.
