Graduate Research and Thesis Conference to be Held at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The 10th annual Graduate Student Association Research and Thesis Conference will be held at The University of Alabama on Saturday, Feb. 10 in Ferguson Center.

The conference is an opportunity for master’s and doctoral students in all disciplines to present their research and to interact with fellow student researchers across campus. There are currently some 3,900 graduate students at UA.

Deadline for abstracts is Friday, Jan. 26. Proposals along with the application form should be sent to gsa@bama.ua.edu with the subject line “research conference submission.”

Every presenter will receive a certificate of attendance and the best presentation (based on jury evaluations) will receive a scholarship and a plaque. Four concurrent presentation sessions will be held, plus a luncheon and awards ceremony.

Graduate students in every discipline are invited to participate. There is no registration fee.

The goals of the conference are to provide an opportunity for students to showcase their work and to promote understanding and communication between interdepartmental fields.

New this year, departments that are closely related to each other will be presenting their work in the same presentation rooms. The four main fields will be business, engineering, social sciences and natural sciences.

The conference is sponsored by the GSA, Graduate School, Graduate Student Services, department of economics, finance and legal studies, and Alpha Epsilon Lambda (graduate and professional student honor society).
