UA Gladney Lecture to Focus on Freedom Movement

Dr. George Daniels’ introduction to journalism class at The University of Alabama sounds a lot like a radio newscast. Maybe it’s his professional broadcasting voice. Maybe it’s the interviews. Or maybe it’s the intro music.
On Thursday, March 9 at 11 a.m. Dr. Tom Goodale, executive director of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, and Barbara Pawlikowski, SAE archivist, will present The University of Alabama W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library a ledger book of reports to the UA board of trustees dating from 1838-1864.
Flava Fest, an annual event sponsored by the International Students Association at The University of Alabama, will feature multicultural activities March 6-12.
A crew from the Krystal Co. will be on the UA campus Wednesday and Thursday, March 8-9 from 9:30 a.m.-dusk near the Ferguson Center Plaza and Crimson Promenade area to conduct their “man on the street” interviews for a new ad featuring Crimson Tide fans and their unrehearsed comments about the new Krystal Pup (small hot dogs).
Distinguished public relations alumni will return to The University of Alabama to share their insights into contemporary public relations practices, career opportunities and technological advances with current students at a Pre-Professional Public Relations Conference hosted by the Plank Center for Public Relations Studies. The conference will be Tuesday, March 7 in Reese Phifer Hall.
The fifth in a series of public lectures on evolution will continue at The University of Alabama with cell biologist Dr. Kenneth Miller. Miller will speak on “Devil in the Details: The Failure of ‘Intelligent Design” March 28 at 7:30 p.m. in 127 Biology Building Auditorium on the UA campus.
Chase Jennings, a University of Alabama junior majoring in industrial engineering, was recently selected for a co-op program in Germany with Mercedes-Benz.
Dr. Gregory B. Thompson, assistant professor of metallurgical and materials engineering, has been awarded a National Science Foundation CAREER Award. CAREER Awards are NSF’s most prestigious recognition of top-performing young scientists and engineers who are beginning their careers.
