UA to Hold ‘Flava Fest’ March 6-12

flava_72TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Flava Fest, an annual event sponsored by the International Students Association at The University of Alabama, will feature multicultural activities March 6-12.

Flava Fest is a celebration of the world’s different cultures with a focus on educating the public about the cultures through various activities.

This is ISA’s main event of the year celebrating cultural diversity on campus and intercultural learning communities that UA supports through student organizations. This year is special because it is part of events on campus highlighting the 175th anniversary of the University and ISA’s 30th anniversary on campus.

Highlights of this year’s event include a foreign film festival, cultural exhibitions, educational seminars, international music, cultural performances and a banquet of international cuisine, all of which represent a joint effort between ISA and contributing partners.

Monday, March 6

Sunday, March 12
6 p.m. – International Banquet – The banquet will be held at the Bryant Conference Center and will feature various performances from around the world, an art auction, stepping by the Lambda Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and international food. There is a $10 general admission fee and a $5 student price for the International Banquet. The money collected will be used to cover the cost of the event and any proceeds will be donated to community agencies. Tickets can be purchased at the UA Crossroads Community Center in the Ferguson Center and from any ISA officer.

All foreign films will be shown in 110 AIME Bldg. free of charge.
