TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Ripple Effect III, the final event of a three-part service project where University of Alabama students help the Tuscaloosa community, will be held Thursday, Sept. 29, with UA students helping cook and serve meals for the Salvation Army.
Volunteers will meet at 355 Ferguson Center at 4:15 p.m. then travel to the Salvation Army to help prepare and serve meals for Tuscaloosa’s homeless citizens. Students can also meet at 4:45 p.m. that day at the Salvation Army on 2902 Greensboro Ave.; the event will conclude at 6:30 p.m.
Ripple Effects I-III, sponsored by the UA Community Service Center, are service events geared towards getting freshman involved on campus and in the community.
The CSC coordinates student volunteers and places them in needed areas in the community based on the volunteer’s specific interest. There are six program areas that have weekly volunteer events scheduled in the Tuscaloosa area: the Arts, Hunger and Homelessness, Environment, Habitat for Humanity, Education and Youth Development and Health Programs.
