UA Pan-Hellenic Council Sponsors Annual Step Show Friday

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama chapter of the National Pan-Hellenic Council is sponsoring the Annual Homecoming Step Show Friday, Oct. 15, at 7 p.m. at the UA Recreation Center.

Tickets can be purchased Friday, Oct. 15 at the Recreation Center, beginning at 6 p.m., for $15.

Comedian Ced Delaney will host the event. Delaney has been featured on BET’s Comic View, WBHJ 95.7 JAMZ Buckwilde Morning show, and has headlined tours with major comedians such as Steve Harvey, Ricky Smiley, and Cedric The Entertainer.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council Homecoming Step Show has been an annual UA event for more than 25 years, and its tradition is unmatched by any other step show in the state.

The step show was created to bring students together on a common ground and to entertain them in a competitive, yet positive environment, according to Santita Tait, National Pan-Hellenic Council UA chapter president.

“The show’s purpose is to be inclusive of all Greeks and the entire student body. We want everyone to participate,” Tait said.

The National Pan-Hellenic Council is the coordinating body for the nine major African-American intercollegiate Greek letter organizations. Member organizations include: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc., Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc., Iota Phi Theta Fraternity Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority Inc. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.

“As a function that emphasizes togetherness and solidarity, the step show has been a major tradition and a relatively new chapter in the history of The University of Alabama. This step show promises to be exciting and fun for the entire family, and we hope you will join us for this grand event,” Tait said.
