TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Sarah Moody Gallery of Art at The University of Alabama will feature new acquisitions to the permanent collection in the exhibition “Floored: Selections from the Permanent Collection.” The exhibition will open Jan. 30 and run through Feb. 29.
The permanent collection features works on paper in the mediums of photography, printmaking, drawing, painting and digital art. The collection continues to grow due to generous donations and acquisition opportunities.
Included are recent works by Chuck Close, Jim Dine, Joseph Raffael and renowned alumnus William Christenberry. Familiar works such as those by William Walmsley, Thornton Willis, William Kentridge, Samuel Mockbee, Carrie Mae Weems, Judy Pfaff, Manuel Neri, Richmond Burton, Walker Evans and William Wegman will be included.
Funding for acquisitions to the permanent collection is graciously provided by the Sarah Moody Gallery Purchase Fund. Funding support for the Sarah Moody Gallery of Art comes from the College of Arts and Sciences at The University of Alabama. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays and 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday. Admission is free. For further information, contact the gallery at 205/348-1891.
