UA’s Bankhead Visiting Writers Series Welcomes Pulitzer Prize Winning Author Jane Smiley to Bama Theatre

Jane Smiley is the author of 12 books, including “A Thousand Acres,” which won the 1992 Pulitzer Prize and was made into the 1991 movie starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Jessica Lange. She will read from her most recent book, “Good Faith” at the Bama Theatre on Oct. 21 at 7:30 p.m. as part of The University of Alabama’s Bankhead Visiting Writers Series.

UA Literary Publication to Host Multicultural Reading

Marr’s Field Journal, The University of Alabama undergraduate literary journal, will host its first multicultural reading “More Than Shakespeare: A Reading Celebrating Diversity Within Literature,” on Wednesday, Oct. 15, from 7-9 p.m. at the Ferguson Center Anderson Room.

UA Partners with Kid One Transport to Help Children Reach Medical Care

Many West Alabama children will get the medical care they need thanks to a partnership between The University of Alabama and Kid One Transport System. The partnership has provided $500,000 in federal funds to support the expansion of Kid One services in West Alabama.
