TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A medical ethics expert who has written a best-selling book on cloning and who has testified before the U.S. Congress on the issue will present a talk to students in The University of Alabama’s Blount Undergraduate Initiative at 4 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 26 in ten Hoor Hall, room 30.

Dr. Gregory Pence, professor of philosophy at UAB, will present “Repeat History’s Mistakes? Why It’s Wrong to Criminalize Cloning Humans” in a special public seminar of the Blount Undergraduate Initiative. Pence is the author of “Who’s Afraid of Human Cloning?”

The Blount Undergraduate Initiative is a four-year program within UA’s College of Arts and Sciences that affirms the value of a liberal arts education based on classical traditions. Its objective is to instill in students the habits of mind that characterize self-reliant thinkers.

Pence will be hosted by Drs. Guy and Kim Caldwell, of UA’s biological sciences department.
