TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Dr. Thomas Borkovec, professor of psychology at Penn State University, will be the guest speaker for the annual Michael Dinoff Memorial Lecture at The University of Alabama on Thursday, April 25.
The public lecture begins at 7 p.m. in 208 Gordon Palmer Hall on the UA campus. Borkovec’s lecture topic is titled “Practice Research Networks: A True Integration of Clinical Science and Clinical Practice.”
Borkovec’s research and clinical practice focuses on adult anxiety disorders. His efforts to integrate basic research and clinical practice were recognized in 1998 by the American Psychological Association with the Distinguished Scientist Award. Borkovec earned his doctorate from the University of Illinois.
The UA department of psychology, the College of Arts and Sciences and the University sponsor the lecture in memory of Dr. Michael Dinoff, a former UA psychology professor and director of UA’s psychological clinic. Dinoff served in that capacity from 1963 until his death in 1982.
