TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama students will travel to Marion for Engineering Day from noon to 2:30 p.m. Friday, April 17, at Francis Marion High School.
The event is designed to encourage high-school students’ interest in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
For the event, the UA Honors College’s 57 Miles initiative is working with Dr. John Kim, UA assistant professor of chemical and biological engineering, and Perry County Schools. Activities will open at noon with a keynote address.
From 12:30 to 2:30 p.m., high-school students will rotate among several stations led by UA engineering groups. The stations will explore applications of engineering through interactive demonstrations.

Through 57 Miles, the distance between UA and the Perry County community, Honors College students have year-round opportunities to give back to communities in need, learn about the Black Belt’s history and put education into action by tackling the challenges of rural poverty.
