Sherwood Burns-Nader

Dr. Sherwood Burns-Nader is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies. Dr. Burns-Nader’s area of expertise is in child development and child life. Dr. Burns-Nader is a Certified Child Life Specialist and has held her certification from the Association for Child Life Professionals for 11 years. Dr. Burns-Nader’s specific research interests include examining the psychosocial issues affecting children and families in the medical setting, the benefits of child life interventions during medical procedures, the value of play in development and coping in children, and the relationship between parents and hospitalized children’s coping. She has co-authored papers in such journals as Burns, Pain Medicine, Children’s Health Care, Clinical Pediatrics, and Journal of Child Health Care.
