Nancy Brinson

Assistant professor

Dr. Nancy Brinson is an expert in advertising, media planning, account planning, personalized advertising, wearables, AdChoices Icon, data privacy, privacy policy and media effects. She joined UAs APR program following a 25-year career managing media departments for ad agencies DDB, Tracy Locke and Ogilvy & Mather. While pursuing her Ph.D. at the University of Texas at Austin, Nancy examined the effects of advertisers’ increasing use of consumers’ data across multiple media platforms and in multiple contexts in an effort to understand how personalized advertising messages impact consumer perceptions and behavior. Her research continues to investigate how increased personalization has led to the rise of ad blocking, as well as how forms of data collection enabled by new technologies (such as wearables and Internet of Things) are being addressed by current policy. In addition to her research interests, Nancy heads up the APR Consumer Specialization track and teaches the Channel Planning and Account Planning courses.
