Dr. Ian McDonough is an assistant professor of Psychology, and an associate of the Alabama Research Institute on Aging where he investigates the mechanisms underlying age-related decline and develops interventions based on these newly discovered mechanisms to help maintain cognition and prevent the development of dementia. Dr. McDonough’s research interests also include episodic memory, aging, structural and functional neuroimaging, dynamic fluctuations of brain activity, biomarkers of preclinical Alzheimer’s disease, and health disparities.
