Dr. Alain Plattner’s research interests include planetary magnetic fields, including Earth’s magnetic field, near-surface geophysics, ground penetrating radar, planets and moons of our solar system. He uses satellite magnetic field data to understand the geologic structure and history of terrestrial planets. Magnetic signatures stored in the crust of these planetary bodies help decipher how a planet works.
