Social Work Colloquium at UA to Feature Trustee Emeritus Cleo Thomas Feb. 18

Cleo Thomas Jr., trustee emeritus for the University of Alabama Board of Trustees, will be the featured speaker for the University of Alabama School of Social Work’s 17th Annual African-American Heritage Month Program Friday, Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. in 223 Little Hall on the UA campus.

UA Theatre Presents Moliere’s Hypochondriac

The University of Alabama’s department of theatre and dance proudly presents the regional premiere of “The Hypochondriac,” a musical comedy based on Moliére’s “The Imaginary Invalid,” with music and lyrics by UA Theatre and Dance program director Raphael Crystal. The production will be presented in the Allen Bales Theatre in the UA Theatre District, Feb. 22-26 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 27 at 2 p.m.

UA Student Association Hosts Faces of Iraq Photo Exhibit

The Culture of Peace Student Association will host the nationally acclaimed Faces of Iraq photography exhibit Feb. 15-25 in the Art Student League Gallery at 109 Woods Hall from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays on The University of Alabama campus.

UA Presents the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre’s Spring Concert

The University of Alabama will present soloist Shouze Ma who will perform with the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre at Morgan Hall Auditorium on Feb. 22-25. All performances are at 7:30 p.m. in Morgan Auditorium in UA’s Theatre District.

The Religion in Culture Lecture Series at The University of Alabama will present “Dismembering the Image of God: Surgery and the Christian Church,” a lecture by Dr. Maarten Ultee, UA professor of European history, at the Ferguson Center Feb. 15.

UA’s Celebrity Series Presents the Alabama Symphony Orchestra

The Frank Moody Memorial Concert, sponsored by The University of Alabama College of Arts and Sciences School of Music together with the Gloria Narramore Moody Foundation and Regions Bank, will present William Wolfram performing the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 1 in a concert with the Alabama Symphony Orchestra in the Moody Music Building Feb. 20 at 3 p.m.

UA’s Center for Public Television Presents Documentary on Developer of Low Income Credit Unions

An Alabamian who became a national figure in developing low income credit unions is profiled in “Where Credit is Due,” a new documentary from the award-winning producers at The University of Alabama Center for Public Television. It airs Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. on Alabama Public Television.

Medical Historian Todd Savitt Featured at UA’s McCollough Medical Forum

Dr. Todd Savitt, medical historian and ethicist, will be the featured presenter at the third annual Susan and Gaylon McCollough Medical Scholars Forum Feb. 18-19 on The University of Alabama campus.
