Jill E. Fisch, Alpin J. Cameron professor of law and director of the Fordham Center for Corporate, Securities and Financial Law at Fordham University School of Law, will present a Meador Lecture on Fiduciaries on Thursday, Oct. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Moot Courtroom of The University of Alabama School of Law.
The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Panhellenic Association and Interfraternity Council will sponsor a candlelight vigil at Denny Chimes on Wednesday, Oct. 19, at 6 p.m. in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
The University of Alabama will host a student-led memorial service in memory of Vivian Malone Jones, Thursday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Ballroom. The community service is open to all who want to honor the memory, courage and accomplishments of one of our nation’s great civil rights pioneers. Jones was the University’s first African American graduate and one of two African American students to first attend the University in 1963.
As part of Capstone Creed Week at The University of Alabama, the Community Service Center is sponsoring a Habitat for Humanity Women Build project Thursday, Oct. 20, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. in the Ferguson Center Plaza.
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and British Foreign Secretary Jack Straw will jointly present the Frank A. Nix Lecture at The University of Alabama on Friday, Oct. 21.
Jonathan Simon, professor of law at Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California, Berkeley, will present the Meador Lecture on Risk and the Law on Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. in the Moot Courtroom of The University of Alabama School of Law. The title of his lecture is “Risk and Reflexivity: What Socio-Legal Studies Adds to the Study of Risk and the Law.”
Dr. William E. Haley, director of the School of Aging Studies at the University of South Florida, will present “Mental Health Consequences of Breast Cancer Survivorship in Older Women” Monday, Oct. 10 at noon in room 111 of the Alabama Institute for Manufacturing Excellence (AIME) building on The University of Alabama campus.
The Alabama Symphony Orchestra will perform in the Moody Music Building Concert Hall at The University of Alabama Sunday, Oct. 16 at 3 p.m. as part of the UA’s School of Music Celebrity Series sponsored by the Gloria Narramore Moody Foundation.
Dr. Paul Jones, one of the nation’s leading collectors of African American art, will speak at The University of Alabama School of Law on Thursday, Oct. 6 at 3 p.m. in the Moot Court Room (room 140).
