UA Professor to Discuss His Book, ‘Rivers of North America’

Dr. Arthur Benke, professor of biological sciences at The University of Alabama, will discuss his book “Rivers of North America” on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 2-3 p.m. at Rodgers Library on campus.

Miss UA Scholarship Competition to be Held Dec. 10

The 2006 Miss University of Alabama competition will be Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in Morgan Hall. Sponsored by the UA Alumni Association, the program is an official preliminary competition leading to the Miss Alabama and Miss America Pageants. Contestants will compete in categories of evening wear, swimsuit/physical fitness, talent, casual wear, on-stage questions and private interview. The winner will represent UA at the 2006 Miss Alabama Pageant in June in Birmingham. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door the night of the program.

UA Women’s Resource Center to Show Documentary on Alzheimer’s Disease

The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center will be showing the documentary film “Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter” on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at noon in the Ferguson Center Forum as part of the Brown Bag lecture series.

UA Public Sky Viewing to Focus on the Moon and Mars Along With Lecture on Neutrinos

The University of Alabama astronomy program is continuing its Public Nights series offering sky viewing through the telescope at Gallalee Hall on Friday, Dec. 9.
