UA Everywoman Book Club to Discuss ‘Crazy Salad’ Dec. 6

The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center will be hosting an Everywoman Book Club meeting at Starbucks in the Ferguson Center on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to discuss the book “Crazy Salad” by Nora Ephron.

UA Professor to Discuss His Book, ‘Rivers of North America’

Dr. Arthur Benke, professor of biological sciences at The University of Alabama, will discuss his book “Rivers of North America” on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 2-3 p.m. at Rodgers Library on campus.

Miss UA Scholarship Competition to be Held Dec. 10

The 2006 Miss University of Alabama competition will be Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. in Morgan Hall. Sponsored by the UA Alumni Association, the program is an official preliminary competition leading to the Miss Alabama and Miss America Pageants. Contestants will compete in categories of evening wear, swimsuit/physical fitness, talent, casual wear, on-stage questions and private interview. The winner will represent UA at the 2006 Miss Alabama Pageant in June in Birmingham. Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at the door the night of the program.

UA Women’s Resource Center to Show Documentary on Alzheimer’s Disease

The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center will be showing the documentary film “Complaints of a Dutiful Daughter” on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at noon in the Ferguson Center Forum as part of the Brown Bag lecture series.

UA Public Sky Viewing to Focus on the Moon and Mars Along With Lecture on Neutrinos

The University of Alabama astronomy program is continuing its Public Nights series offering sky viewing through the telescope at Gallalee Hall on Friday, Dec. 9.

UA Presents Provocative Sculptural Exhibit ‘Scattered Man’

The University of Alabama Sarah Moody Gallery of Art will host the sculptural exhibit “Scattered Man and related works” by North Carolina artist Cort Savage, Dec. 1-Jan. 15, in 103 Garland Hall. Savage will lecture on his artwork in 205 Smith Hall Wednesday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.

Hoole Special Collections Library to be Featured in Brown Bag Lecture

As a part of the Brown Bag series, The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center is sponsoring the event, “What’s Cool at Hoole, A Virtual Tour of Resources at the Special Collections Library for Women” on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at noon in 305 Ferguson Center.

The food drive competition between The University of Alabama and Auburn University ended Thursday, Nov. 17, with Auburn University collecting 99,678 lbs. and UA collecting 62,014 lbs.

‘Lagniappe Social’ at UA Nov. 21 for Students Affected By Hurricane

To recognize students affected by Hurricane Katrina, The University of Alabama will host “Lagniappe Social: A Little Something Extra” on Monday, Nov. 21, from 3:30-5 p.m. at the press box of Bryant-Denny Stadium.
