Dr. Roberta “Bobbi” Webster, an instructor and director of undergraduate studies in the geography department at The University of Alabama, recently received the Distinguished Teaching Achievement Award from the National Council for Geographic Education.
The University of Alabama College of Engineering recently named Dr. Samit Roy as the William D. Jordan Endowed Chairholder in Engineering.
Dr. E. Eugene Marsh III has been named dean of The University of Alabama’s College of Community Health Sciences and associate dean of the UA School of Medicine.
Dr. David Wolf has been named assistant vice president for campaigns at The University of Alabama. The newly created position in the Office of University Advancement will provide leadership and direction in the area of university-wide major gift campaign initiatives. Wolf currently serves as both director of university leadership gifts and director of athletic development at UA.
Gary Creek has been named assistant vice president for marketing and communications at The University of Alabama.
Dr. Guy Caldwell, associate professor of biological sciences at The University of Alabama, was named the state’s 2005 Professor of the Year today by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education, known as CASE.
A paper co-authored by Dr. Anup Agrawal, professor of finance and holder of the William A. Powell Chair of Finance and Banking at The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Commerce, has received the “Best Paper” award at the recent Financial Management Association meeting in Chicago.
A new book co-authored by Dr. Walter Enders, a University of Alabama economics professor, applies business principles to terrorism and is receiving high praise from analysts and authorities on the war on terrorism. The book, “The Political Economy of Terrorism,” is now available.
Dr. John E. Lochman, professor and Saxon Chair in Clinical Psychology at The University of Alabama, is the recipient of the University’s Blackmon-Moody Outstanding Professor Award. He was honored in an Oct. 23 ceremony at the UA President’s Mansion.
