Winter 2015 Graduates Announced at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama will award some 2,200 degrees during winter commencement Saturday, Dec 12, on campus. With this graduating class, UA will have awarded more than 249,000 degrees since its founding in 1831 as the state’s first public university. Students listed as candidates to receive degrees include:

UA’s Public Speaking Program Receives National Recognition

The National Communication Association named The University of Alabama public speaking program as one of the 2015 Programs of Distinction. The award, given by the organization’s basic course division, honored the College of Communication and Information Sciences’ program for its outstanding efforts to cultivate student excellence in oral communication.

Biology Graduate Student Wins UA’s Three Minute Thesis Contest

The University of Alabama’s Culverhouse College of Commerce will induct seven business professionals into the 2015 Alabama Business Hall of Fame Thursday, Nov. 12.

AEJMC to Present UA C&IS with Diversity Award

The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences will receive a diversity award from Dr. Lori Bergen, president of the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, Wednesday, Nov. 4.

UA Student Receives Killam Fellowship for Study in Canada

Fulbright Canada has awarded Jordan Sandy, a student at The University of Alabama, a Killam Fellowship to study at The University of British Columbia during the 2015-2016 academic year. Sandy, a Chicago native who is double majoring in economics and English, is a University Fellow and has held membership in the Lambda Sigma Academic Honor Society. He has interned with Creative Campus and worked with SaveFirst, a free tax preparation service for low-income families.

UA Student Receives Award for Focus on International Issues

Brandon Hooks, president of the Alabama International Relations Club at The University of Alabama, was recently presented with the UNA-USA Greater Birmingham Chapter Campus Leadership Award at the United Nations 70th anniversary banquet in Birmingham.
