The UA School of Library and Information Studies’ master’s degree program has been granted continued accreditation by the American Library Association.
Works from The University of Alabama’s Paul R. Jones Collection of American Art will be on display Feb. 16-18 in Montgomery at the Alabama State House.
The University of Alabama will join public universities from throughout the state in demonstrating support for higher education at two special events planned for March 3-4 in Montgomery. Events include the 2010 Alumni Leaders’ Advocacy Banquet and the annual Higher Ed Day Rally.
Award-winning films about Asia will be screened as one of the film series that the UA Asian Studies Program is presenting this semester. Six films will be shown each Monday from Feb. 15 until March 29 (with the exception of spring break on Monday, March 15).

The University of Alabama has scheduled activities for the observance of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Feb. 22-28, celebrating the heritage of entrepreneurship in America and underscoring opportunities for new entrepreneurs.
The University of Alabama ranks 10th among more than 600 public universities nationwide in the enrollment of National Merit Scholars for 2009-2010 with 103 scholars in the fall 2009 freshman class. The ranking also places UA 24th among more than 2,400 universities when both public and private institutions are included.
A total of 6,234 students enrolled during the 2009 fall term at The University of Alabama made the Dean’s List with an academic record of 3.5 or above (on a 4.0 scale), or the President’s List with an academic record of 4.0 (all As).
Undergraduate students of all majors are invited to attend The University of Alabama’s annual Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference scheduled for April 15 at the Bryant Conference Center. To participate, undergraduate students must register their project by submitting an application form and abstract describing their project by March 8.
