The University of Alabama will recognize the achievement of outstanding students and faculty during Honors Week activities on campus from Monday, April 1, to Tuesday, April 9. The Tapping on the Mound ceremony, a tradition since the early 1900s, will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, April 5, on the Mound at the west side of the UA Quad (rain location will be Moody Music Building Concert Hall).
The University of Alabama School of Law is ranked 21st in the nation, and the UA School of Library and Information Studies is ranked 18th, according to U.S. News and World Report’s 2014 edition of its annual “Best Graduate Schools” publication. UA’s Master of Business Administration program comes in at 58th among all MBA programs.
Jimmy Taylor, a Fairhope junior majoring in finance in the Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration, was elected president of The University of Alabama Student Government Association for the 2013-2014 term.
Dr. John Baker was recently named head of the department of aerospace engineering and mechanics in The University of Alabama College of Engineering.

Don Lemon, an award-winning journalist and CNN Newsroom anchor, will speak at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, at the the Ferguson Center Theatre on The University of Alabama campus.
