Free to a Good Home: Maps from the Map Library

Maps can be used for research, teaching, wall art or as a gift for the cartophile in your life.

As part of downsizing due to space limitations, the University Map Library  is giving away older maps. While no maps of Alabama or its border states will be distributed, thousands of other maps are free for the taking.

Maps include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Colorado ski resorts
  • The Smokey Mountains
  • Your great grandfather’s piece of land in Minnesota

Maps are given away on first-come, first-served basis.

Contact Dr. Johanna Engstrom, geospatial services manager, at jengstrom@ua.edu to check availability for your area of interest, or stop by the Map Library between 1-4:30 p.m. on Sept. 22, or Sept. 25-29.

The University Map Library, located on the third floor of Farrah Hall, is part of the department of geography in the College of Arts and Sciences.
