UA Everywoman Book Club to Discuss ‘Crazy Salad’ Dec. 6

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Women’s Resource Center will be hosting an Everywoman Book Club meeting at Starbucks in the Ferguson Center on Tuesday, Dec. 6, to discuss the book “Crazy Salad” by Nora Ephron.

The book is made up of 25 short items and it is not necessary to have read the whole book to participate in the discussion. The book club does not have a designated area in Starbucks but the meeting will be in a local sitting area.

“Crazy Salad” is an extremely funny, deceptively light look at a generation of women (and men) who helped shape the way we live now. In this hilarious view of a period of great upheaval in America, Ephron turns her keen eye and wonderful sense of humor to the media, politics, beauty products and women’s bodies. Ephron brings her sharp pen to bear on the notable women of the time, and to a series of events ranging from Watergate to the Pillsbury Bake-Off.

Ephron was a writer for many years at Esquire and New York magazines, and she is the author of several books. Her other screenwriting credits include “When Harry Met Sally” and “Silkwood.” She directed several movies, including “Sleepless in Seattle” and “You’ve Got Mail.”

All members of the campus and community are invited. For more information, contact Elle Shaaban Magana, of the WRC at 205/348-5040.
