Filmmaker to Screen ‘The Order of Myths’ at Bama Theatre Oct. 30

posterTUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Filmmaker Margaret Brown will screen her film “The Order of Myths” at the Bama Theatre Thursday, Oct. 30 at 7:30 p.m., sponsored by The University of Alabama College of Communication and Information Sciences and the Arts and Humanities Council of Tuscaloosa County.

This documentary film follows two Mardi Gras krewes in Mobile, and it shows how Mardi Gras has progressed, or not progressed, in the city known to be where the first American celebrations started in 1703. The “Order of Myths” is a 2008 Cinematic Vision Award winner, Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize nominee and South by Southwest Film Festival and Edinburgh International Film Festival selection.

Brown made her directorial debut with “Be Here to Love Me: A Film about Townes Van Zandt.” She produced “Six Miles of Eight Feet,” which won a Student Academy Award in 2000, and she was the cinematographer for “Ice Fishing,” which received an honorable mention for short filmmaking at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival and earned her the Nestor Almendros Award for cinematography from New York University’s graduate film program, where she received her Master’s of Fine Arts.

Brown will introduce the film and take questions following the screening. Admission is $5, and tickets will be available at the door.
